The Game That
Makes You Better

🏐
No Bench. Ever.

Two players. You're one of them. Every point, every rally — you're in it. More touches in one practice than an entire indoor week.

🧠
Sharper IQ

Reading angles, anticipating shots, 1v1 defense — beach develops volleyball instincts that directly translate to elite indoor performance.

🎓
College Path

Beach volleyball is one of the fastest growing NCAA sports. Fewer athletes competing for scholarships means your odds are dramatically better — especially for boys.

💪
Elite Conditioning

Sand training builds explosive power, lateral agility, and endurance that no gym can replicate. Your body becomes your most powerful tool.

Everything
You Need to Know

Do I need to be a Loudoun Elite member to try out?
No — anyone can try out regardless of what club they currently play for, or even if they don't play for any club at all. The beach program is open to all.
Do I need prior beach volleyball experience?
No prior beach experience is required. We recommend having played volleyball in some capacity, but if you're new to the beach game, we'll teach you everything. Athletes are grouped by skill level for effective development.
Can I try out if my indoor season is still going?
Yes. You can try out even if you're still in your indoor season. Many of our athletes overlap both — we plan around it and getting early touches only helps you hit the ground running.
Is attendance at every practice mandatory?
Attendance is not mandatory. This is your training, your development — you choose how much you put in. If you're going to miss, you don't need to notify us, but showing up consistently is how you improve fastest.
How does partner selection work?
You choose your own partner, regardless of age or club affiliation. You can switch partners at any tournament. We recommend talking to multiple players throughout the season to find the best fit for competition.
Can beach volleyball lead to a college scholarship?
Yes — and it's one of the fastest growing NCAA sports. There are real scholarship opportunities for both girls and boys, with significantly less competition for spots compared to indoor. Our recruiting portal can help you navigate the process.
What do I need to bring to practice and tournaments?
For practice: plenty of water, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and snacks. For tournaments: everything above plus a beach towel, umbrella, chair, and a change of clothes. Sand socks are also recommended.
What happens if there's bad weather?
Practice runs unless we issue a cancellation. Rain is not a reason to cancel — only thunder, lightning, or non-stop heavy rain. Playing in elements is part of the game, and part of what makes beach athletes tougher.
